For a brief history of our school district: Why LHUSD?

Lake Havasu Unified School District No.1 has six elementary schools (pre kindergarten through 6th grade), one middle school (7th through 8th grade), and one high school (9th through 12th grade). Total student enrollment this year is in excess of 5,300. 

The district offers a rigorous academic program for all students. In addition, programs for the gifted and talented, special education programs, remedial, enrichment, and accelerated programs at all levels, art, music, computer, foreign language, physical education, phonics, language development, NOVA, and Student Assistant Programs are offered in all the elementary schools.

Lake Havasu High School's mission is to provide an education that requires high standards of individual achievement, especially in the areas of academic understanding, artistic talent, physical strength and grace, sportsmanship, and emotional maturity. is a comprehensive school offering a demanding academic program for all students, including honor, accelerated and Advanced Placement (A.P.) courses. The curriculum is designed to meet the needs of all students: college bound, trade and vocational orientations, tech-prep programs, business and industry partnerships, integrated and applied courses in math, science, foreign language, language arts and vocational education. The school offers extensive co-curricular programs such as drama, band and choir. Extracurricular programs include interscholastic athletics, Academic Decathlon and numerous clubs/service sponsored activities.

Since its inception, Lake Havasu Unified School District students consistently outperform the County, State and Nation in national norm referenced tests, such as the Iowa Test of Basic Skills, the Test of Academic Proficiency, and the national SAT9 student achievement assessments. The district continuously strives to ensure that our student success is constantly evaluated, ensuring a quality curriculum with outstanding instruction. As a quality organization, the Lake Havasu Unified School District encourages parents, the business community, and other interested citizens to work with school personnel in the constant improvement of educational opportunities for all of our children.

Lake Havasu Unified receives the support of many local service organizations including the K–12 Foundation for LHUSD #1.
