Meal Charge Policy

To ensure students receive the nutrition they need to stay focused during the school day, the District shall maintain a meal charge program that minimizes identification of children with insufficient funds to pay for school meals and maintain the financial integrity of the district food service fund account.

Students at the Lake Havasu Unified School District are allowed to charge up to three meals ONLY during the first two weeks of school. This is to allow time for meal accounts to be funded. No a la carte charges will be allowed.

Students who are in arrears for three meals will be offered the alternate meal during these first two weeks.

Any student with an unfunded account after the first two weeks will also be offered the alternate meal.

Adjustments will be made for students with a signed allergy form.

Low-balance reminders are sent via text messaging or email twice a week when a student balance gets low. It is the parents' responsibility to monitor their student's account!

At any time during the school year, a new or updated meal application can be filled out either online or at your school office.
