Lake Havasu's Web Design program (advisor Steven Paluch) proved last year was no fluke by sweeping the medals and covering the winner's podium with LHHS SkillsUSA members. Once again the Web Design competitors showed they were well prepared for the rigorous seven hour contest by finishing in seven of the top ten places in the competition. Alex and Kayla continued their domination in the competition over the past 3 years by once again winning gold and securing a berth to the National Championships, their second trip in as many years. The LHHS Web Design program has continued to grow over the past three years, enabling them to field 10 teams at this year's State competition. This year's winners included: Gold – Alex and Kayla , Silver – Jessica and Shay, and Bronze – Shelby and Danielle.

Automotive students (advisor Brian Steele) continued their presence on the medals podium with another great finish. The automotive contest at State consists of a written test, parts identification, and various other challenges that include examining cars to determine the malfunction. Derek was successful in winning his first of two 2nd place State medals this year, one in Basic Automotive Technology and the other in Job Interview (level 2).

Lake Havasu has always been a strong competitor in the Job Interview competition, and this year was no different. Divided into three phases, the competition consists of completing an employment application, preliminary interviews with a receptionist, and in-depth interviews. Nearly eighty contestants were evaluated on their understanding of interview procedures used for job related and college interviews. After the initial interview, Havasu ended up having five of the seven finalists called back for a second interview, proving that technical skills are not the only thing LHHS CTE teachers focus on. This year's winners included: Gold – Tyler, Silver – Jessica, and Bronze – Jasper. Job Interview is also a nationally qualifying contest; allowing Tyler the opportunity to compete on the National stage.

Havasu also proved it could compete outside the usual competitions by challenging other schools in the state at Job Skill Demonstration, Promotional Bulletin Board, Community Service, and Extemporaneous Speaking. Alex won her second gold medal of the day in Job Skill Demo, while Rhannon took first and Danielle took third in the Promotional Bulletin Board contest.
