LHHS SkillsUSA students win gold, silver, and bronze at Nationals

Lake Havasu High School web design students have won a gold medal at the SkillsUSA national competition for the 2nd year in a row. LHHS students also won one silver and one bronze medal in other events at the Skills USA National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, MO, June 22–28.

Medal winners:

  • Web Design (team event): gold medal won by Christian and Nick.
  • Computer Programming: silver medal won by Robert.
  • Architectural Drafting: bronze medal won by Michael.

Most of our participating students qualified for the national competition by placing first at regional and state competitions, but there is no regional or AZ state competition for computer programming. LHHS submitted samples of Robert's work to the SkillsUSA national committee. Robert was allowed to compete and ended up winning the silver medal. Robert knows his way around national competition. He was on the LHHS team that won the Web Design gold medal in 2012.

Qualifying for and competing in Nationals, but not winning a medal:

  • Job Interview: Amanda.
  • Quiz Bowl (team event): Peter, Nick, David, and Shane.
  • Broadcast News (team event): Zoe, Michaela, Jason, and Tabitha.

Don't forget, your tax credit contributions help fund LHHS SkillsUSA teams. We are grateful for this important community support as well as assistance provided by the Western Arizona Vocational Education Joint Technical Education District (WAVE JTED).
