The Arizona Department of Education recently released its AZ LEARNS School Achievement Profile ratings for 2008-09. Those for Lake Havasu Unified schools are shown in the table below along with those from 2007-08 and 2002-03 so you can see how we have done over a longer period of time. A yellow highlight indicates a ranking that improved over last year's.
*Daytona Middle School was closed at the end of the 2009-10 school year. The AZ LEARNS program awards an annual achievement profile rating to each Arizona school. Achievement profile ratings are based on a complex formula using different criteria for K-8 and high school. K-8 ratings are based on the Arizona Measure of Academic Progress (MAP), the percent of students who pass AIMS, and AZELLA (Arizona English Language Learner Assessment) results. High school ratings are based on dropout rate, graduation rate, percent of students passing AIMS, and AZELLA results. A school may be rated as failing, underperforming, performing, performing plus, highly performing, or excelling. According to an October 8, 2008 article in Lake Havasu's newspaper, the Today's News-Herald, state superintendent Tom Horne says AZ LEARNS is “the best way to measure how a school is performing from one year to the next.” As you can see from the rankings, our schools have done very well. LHUSD wants to thank our staff, our students, parents, governing board, and the Lake Havasu community at large for helping us deliver quality K–12 education. You all make a contribution. Education is a team effort. |
