P.T.A. Spirit Days and Smart Boards
Starline P.T.A. will be sponsoring one Spirit Day per month to help raise money for Smart Boards! The goal is to have a Smart Board in every classroom!
You might be asking 2 questions: What are Smart Boards and how does the Spirit Day work?
First, a Smart Board is an interactive touch-sensitive screen connected through cables to a computer and a projector to show the computer image. The screen is 77 inches measured diagonally. After orienting the board with the projector, your finger magically turns into the mouse. The board also contains electronic drawing markers that the computer recognizes when you pick up a pen from the tray. SMART Technologies provides Notebook Software for Smart Board owners and users to download and use. The Notebook Software contains many tools to enhance instruction such as shapes, backgrounds, images, screen shades and Flash interactive materials. Teachers can insert new blank slides in the software to continue their lesson. Their website provides thousands of pre-made Notebook lessons that teachers can download and use in their classroom or modify to fit their lesson's objective. More about Smart Boards...
Second, the way the Smart Board Spirit Day will work is as follows: Student Council will choose what the Spirit Day will be, then the week of the Spirit Day, Student Council will promote it all week. Here is where the Smart Board part comes in, everyone who would like to participate in the Spirit Day will bring in $1.00 by Thursday. The money will be collected on Thursday afternoon by Student Council. Then on Friday, everyone who donated $1.00 will dress in the Spirit Day theme. It's that simple! This is a great way to raise money for our classrooms.
Spirit Days will always be in the Star....line, our school newsletter.
