The students compete at SkillsUSA Regionals in Yuma, Arizona and SkillsUSA State Championships in Phoenix, Arizona. Also, some of the students compete in contests that qualify them for the National Leadership and Skills Conference in Kansas City, Missouri. This year Lake Havasu High School will be competing in: architectural drafting (board and CAD), mechanical drafting (board and CAD), web design, automotives, TV production, TV news anchor, and job interview. SkillsUSA works in partnership with education and industry. This means that workers in the industry create each of the contests based on specific criteria for each competition. In each of these contests, the competitors are given a set amount of time to complete a given task. Winners are chosen by judges based on a certain criteria scale based on each competitions' requirements.
