Havasupai Elementary opened in 1972 for the 72-73 school year. To help celebrate 40 years of serving students, we are making available a video (taken in 1973) and some documents from 1972. Long-time residents may recognize names and faces.
The video shows general scenes around the Havasupai campus, both outside and inside. We don't know who was holding the camera. Maybe you can tell us. The video was converted from 8 mm film by a service available through Wal-Mart and YesVideo. It is silent, with no sound track. A point of interest—the video shows two white buses marked Community Transit parked in front of the school. The school district did not own buses back then, but there was a private bus service that would transport your student for a fee. You will also see System 80s in the school. This was the best classroom technology of the time. We hope you enjoy this look back.
