Drafting Technology
Brian Aranguena
The Lake Havasu High School Drafting Technology Program is academically rigorous and demanding. Students need to keep in mind that upon the completion of each year, students must be invited by the instructor to continue their involvement in the program. Aptitudes required for the drafting program include: mathematics interest and skill; eye for detail with visual perception; creativity, free thinking; self-motivation and ambition; verbal and written communications fluency; meticulous, precise, "finicky" pride in work.
The DTP is one of the premier high school drafting programs in the state and is able to offer every student in the course their "own" Board and CAD workstation. LHHS DTP continues to be concerned with staying on the leading edge of drafting technology. The facilities are among the best in the state. An advisory committee of respected industry representatives keeps the program current to industry needs and standards.

Course CTSO
The United States Department of Education recognizes 10 national career and technical student organizations (CTSOs) as integral to career and technical education. CTSOs provide a uncommon experience for middle/junior high, high school and college students, including: leadership development, employability skills training and the importance of being a responsible American citizen.
Each year millions of working adults join one or more professional associations in specific and general career fields. CTSOs are NOT "clubs". An integrated SkillsUSA section includes a wide range of activities that model "adult" professional organizations, including: gaining community support, networking, supporting your local community, and work experience. In other words, a CTSO works best when it is utilized as part of the program of instruction and is administered by a teacher (Advisor) who is committed to development of the entire student (i.e. technical skills, leadership skills, employability skills, etc.)
