Construction
Steve Eide
This year long class is designed to introduce the construction industry. The class content includes the ever-changing course competencies revised most recently in June 2008 by the Arizona Department of Education. Specific areas include career planning, shop, job site safety, plan reading, site layout, framing, concrete and masonry, plumbing, electrical, drywall, and finishing techniques associated with the light construction industry. Students will have the opportunity to participate in a SkillsUSA event.
Advanced Building Trades is the "pinnacle class in the woods area of Industrial Education. After two to three years of the shop experience, this 2-hour block class is designed to give advanced theory and extra time for "hands-on" construction. Emphasis moves away from "bench top" projects as students learn to frame, hang doors, install windows, and apply interior finishes.
