District gets passing grade in audit

The Lake Havasu Unified School District received a passing grade on its most recent audit.

Accounting firm Heinfeld, Meech & Company performed the audit in September and October. The CPA Company specializes in governmental and nonprofit organizations. It has offices in Flagstaff, Phoenix and Tucson.

The full audit report will not be available until late December, according to Michael Murray, Business Services Director. However, a preliminary overview was presented to the Governing Board Oct 30th at the regularly scheduled work session.

The preliminary audit wrap up revealed minor internal control issues. For example, student attendance recordkeeping had room for improvement and there were concerns about coding of cash receipts.
