Dear Starline Parents/Guardians:

We recently received our A – F Accountability Profile from the Arizona Department of Education.

Below is the information regarding our Letter Grade that has been assigned by the state of Arizona.  These grades are based on the 2016-17 school year AzMERIT assessments.

Starline Elementary School A-F
Letter Grade = A

These new letter grades are based on the assessment of the more rigorous Arizona standards and will provide a new baseline for our school planning process.

Over the summer, Starline's Site-Based Council (parents, community members, and school staff) conducted a Comprehensive Needs Assessment. The process included reviewing data in the following areas:  AzMERIT Math and English Language Arts, DIBELS (Dynamic Indicator of Basic Early Literacy Skills), Discipline, and Attendance.

From the results of the Comprehensive Needs Assessment the following goals were identified for the 2017-2018 school year:  a) developing a shared mission and vision of high quality education and academic success and well being for all students, b) investigating resources to offer extra-curricular intervention and enrichment opportunities for all students in order to maximize instruction, c) identifying and closing the gap for reading along with goals for continuous improvement, and d) engaging all stakeholders in discussions involving school-wide data and the progress toward reaching the above goals.

The draft of our vision and mission statement will be sent out after Fall Break. The Council welcomes feedback and input. Please plan to attend our next Council meeting which will be scheduled for November 16 from 5:00-6:00 pm in the school library. The topics on our agenda will include the first quarter reading and math data along with a review of the vision and mission statements.

During the 2016-2017 school year, some of our celebrations include the following, Starline students took first place in the Science Olympiad sponsored by Arizona State University. Students competed in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM). The National Elementary Honor Society raised money to support a need in the community. The Student Council collaborated to support school spirit, leadership, and community service. The Mayor presented the Proclamation of the opening of Kids City so entrepreneurship could begin.

Thank you for your continued support of our school. I look forward to meeting with you, both to share our success and to hear your suggestions.

Miss Triassi, Principal
